Step one:

Push latches simultaniously towards center. Lock latches open behind outside pipes of grate to avoid dragging on sides of feeder when opening.

Open Grate

Step three:

Push flake of hay into feeder keeping flake centered.

Step four:

Close grate and engage latches.
